Finding a connection with the right farmer to learn from can be difficult, as working on a farm can be very different than the average job. Direct Grade Manitoba knows each of its members on a personal basis, and wants to ensure they find the help they need from hard workers like you. Making the right match means figuring out an arrangement that works for both farmer and worker.

Farmers Market Sales Assistant . Farmer Market Sales Assistant Position: We are seeking an individual to help us to set up and sell produce at Pineridge Hollow Farmers Market. The Market runs from June until October every Saturday. Primary Duties include assisting with packing up produce at the farm, setting up the market stand, selling and stocking produce during the market and then cleaning up after the market. This position requires attention to detail, quality control, motivation, energy and enthusiasm. Must be able to work quickly and efficiently in a busy environment. The market is outside rain or shine. Must be able to lift more then forty pounds. Hours are from 6 am to 3 pm every Saturday from June until October Interest in sustainable agriculture, knowledge of vegetables and previous farmers market or sales experience are desirable. Coordinator Accommodation provided. The HMS Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position to advance the vision and mission of the Harvest Moon Society. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the HMS Coordinator works with committees to coordinate the society’s programs and volunteers. The Coordinator will work 35 hours per week at $17/hour. Ideally, the Coordinator will be located in Clearwater Manitoba at the Harvest Moon Learning Centre office. The Coordinator may work from home but is expected to be in Clearwater 50% of the time. Shared accommodations in the Harvest Moon Learning Centre are available, if needed.

We offer: A rich diversity of farm work: a focus on CSA market gardening and the management of a local farmers' market, with opportunities for involvement with cattle, rotational grazing, milk goats, hay making, laying hens, meat birds, hogs and home scale butchery; An experience of collective ownership and decision making structures; An integration of body, mind, and spirit work; (Conversations about what we're reading, thinking about, feeling and wondering tend to get woven into the day.) A lovely second storey room in a spacious straw bale house; Terrific food; $50/week honorarium; The internship is coordinated by Marcus Rempel and Erica Young who manage the CSA market garden and the local farmers' market. The intern will also have opportunities to get to know and learn from other community members during her or his stay. Ploughshares Community Farm is located near Beausejour, Manitoba. We are located on the city bus Route 162 which comes across the road twice per day. Lunch is provided as a benefit. We have a 5 person team. The position is seven hours per day for 5 days per week, with option for more hours depending on weather.Experience with horticulture/farm/gardens is preferred. Must enjoy working outdoors.
